Meaning …White Strand

This is a very special place, again just a mile outside Newport. It’s called Melcombe, this is the land that my father farmed all his life. Here we spent quite a lot of our childhood…be it hand in hand with my father,walking the hills, counting the sheep and cattle , searching for treasures.shells,washed up old shoes etc along the shore,and then when a little older learning to swim there. We spent many an afternoon happily running round,swimming,searching and playing there…oh and the picnics …nothing like them..how simple life was then.
